What I built
- Voice and video calls
1:1 calls over WebRTC with Cloudflare TURN. On iPhone, calls ring through the native CallKit screen with VoIP push.
- Real-time chat
Text, voice messages, photos, location pins, reactions, replies, edits and read receipts.
- Buddy matching
A compatibility score weighs language fit, shared interests and intent, with browsing, filters and a city map.
- Language-exchange tools
Schedule exchanges, correct each other's messages, and save phrases to a learning library you can export.
- Meetups and local festivals
Members host meetups with RSVPs and weekly series; festivals come in from the Korea Tourism Organization feed with a map.
- Community with AI translation
Posts and comments with likes, translated on demand by AI.
- Verification badges
Photo liveness checks with AWS Rekognition, Korea residency by location, and school or work email.
- Safety and moderation
Blocking, reports, spam limits, automatic text moderation and suspensions, with admin review queues.
- Sign-in and push
Apple, Google and Kakao sign-in, with push notifications through APNs and FCM.
